In her 26 years as an attorney concentrating her practice in the defense of claims under both the Louisiana Workmen's Compensation Act and the Long shore and Harbor Worker's Compensation Act, Beth has represented a variety of local and national companies, many of whom specialize in offshore oil field work. Some of her current and past representative clients include The Wood Group, Atwood Oceanic, Cox Communications, Oil States Industries, Truss co, Inc., General Marine Leasing, Inc., The Candy Fleet, Zurich American Insurance Company, Everest National Insurance Company and Great American Insurance Company (nationally and through Strategic Comp Services).
Her work for these and her other clients include representation of their interests before the District Director and the Office of Administrative Law Judges of the United States Department of Labor as well as the Administrative Law Judges of the Louisiana Department of Labor, Office of Worker's Compensation Programs. Beth also represents her clients in intervention actions filed into the third party tort actions initiated by the injured workers so that her clients can recoup the amounts they paid in worker's compensation benefits under both Acts. In this arena, she has represented her corporate clients. Interests in contractual and insurance issues that can arise when those intervention rights are raised in federal and state lawsuits arising out of offshore and marine accidents. She has successfully represented her corporate and insurance clients in seeking and obtaining approval of state and long shore applications for approval of lump sum settlements and she has successfully sought relief for her clients from the state and federal Second Injury Funds.
Beth is also actively involved with employment issues as a member of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the American Bar Association Committee for liaison with EEOC and OFCCP. She focuses on the representation of employers in a wide variety of discrimination cases involving hostile work environment and sexual harassment claims. She also defends corporate and insurance clients confronting claims for penalty wages as well as Title VII, FLSA, ADA and ERISA claims.
Beth also defense corporate and insurance clients in connection with class action and multi-party environmental and toxic tort claims, including asbestos litigation.
Beth is a native of New York and has made New Orleans her home for the past 36 years. She obtained her undergraduate degree and her law degree from Loyola University in New Orleans.
